This is a toy camera and you cannot ask for quality not even for fast operation.
Anyway, the price tag is not as poor as the quality and I understand those who are disappointed.
I got it for free and I must admit I would be disappointed as well if I had paid it.
My 2 age daugther got fun in taking pictures with it once she understood how to use it. The time delay when pressing the shutter is a "normal" feature also on high price "for adults" compact camera.
It is by far better than a phone if your target is to introduce your sons to photography.

Wow! We are amazed and thrilled! Our four year old is having a great time with this camera (and so are we seeing her photos). Quality is great and is improving as she is learning to hold camera steady.

The only con is that you must make sure that the USB cable is securely connected to the camera - even if it shows that it's connected, it may not be in all the way. Thanks to an earlier post for this tip!

We use a Mac and iPhoto and it worked perfectly! This made our little girls day! We are looking forward to some big fun and seeing the world through our sweet girl's eyes!

Our 5-year-old daughter has had this camera for a year and a half (X-mas gift in 2007). She's taken over 600 photos with it.We like the rugged, kid-oriented design. The buttons are easy to press and positioned nicely for little fingers. It's got both a viewfinder and an LCD screen for framing shots. The one BIG issue has been the shutter delay. It's taken our daughter a while to work out that she needs to hold the camera steady even AFTER pressing the button. Bought this for our son as a replacement to him playing with my much more expensive digital camera. Terrible picture quality (didn't expect much) even when I take the pictures. Used very little because he gets frustrated with lag from pressing the button to the time the picture takes. Stopped working after only 5 months of minimal use. The camera powers on when plugged in USB, but will not power up to take photos. [...]1st they told me to take it back to the retailer, then the say that they can't fix it because I don't have a dated receipt to prove I'm within the 1 year warrantee period. My son got this foR his 3rd birthday and loves it. The camera holds lots of pictures and is easy for my son to hold. View screen is a good size, and my son can scroll thru and look at the pics he's taken. I looked thru the pcis the other day, over 300 and found pics of food, toys, sofa adn tv. He loves to take pictures!!!I have not downloaded it.

We gave this camera to my 4 year old son who loves to take pictures with our phones/cameras. He was excited when he opened it but lost interest after hardly being able to see the photos in the display window. The button to take the picture is actually jammed now and totally useless. I think we will look for something a little better quality next time.

My child got this camera for his birthday early 2008. Now it is early 2009 and the LCD view screen is damaged. I was under the impression that the camera was durable for his age group. The batteries drained quick ( like most cameras so that wasn't overly surprising) and the camera was taken care of. Last week I noticed the LCD screen broken- disappointing. Now to see if I can get it fixed in a reasonable time frame and how to go about it. Other than that my son loves it, they are too expensive to buy one every year so I hope I don't get a hassle to fix it. I'll keep you posted.

This camera is great...in theory. However, I would NOT recommend this product for use by a young child unless they are very steady of hand and have patience. There is quite a delay from when the child pushes the button to when the shutter actually opens and the picture is taken. It took us a while to figure this out. My three-year-old got this for Christmas and used it for about a day and a half. Now it is sitting on her dresser...untouched...because she doesn't have the patience to "wait for it". This is not what I expected.

Bought the camera on sale ($17.99 CAN). Was the best Christmas gift ever. My 5 yr old daughter loves to take and pose for pictures. Picture quality not the greatest but acceptable for the price. She was pleased as punch when she was able to email 'her' pictures to relatives. In a few years I will upgrade her hardware to an inexpensive point and shoot.

My son recieved this as a Christmas present, he loves the camera. A little disappointed in the delay. Wasn't expecting the quality to be great, but still love to see the things that he finds intersting to photograph. Not sure if the flash actually works though, haven't been able to figure it out or maybe our camera is just faulty.

Great product! I teach 7th, 8th, 9th graders with mental disabilities. Students enjoy using the camera for fun and for learning activities. Time with the camera is an effective reinforcer for good behavior. The design would be better if the click button were bigger or on top instead of on the front. It would also be nice if it could be rechargable.

My son loves this camera - I would recommend it for a great fun kids toy. You will not get great pictures from it (notice the price) but, my son just loves getting us all to pose and then he clicks a picture of the ceiling or the floor. If you are looking for good quality pictures buy a better camera, if you want your young kid to have fun, this is a great product.

my 3yr old daughter got this camera for christmas, the image displayed on the screen is very poor, some images you cant make out. Also we are unable to upload images to our pc (knowing about flap obstructing cable) there doesn't seem to be any support for this product either. my friends daughter has a simular camera made by a different manufacturer and there are lots more features and much better quality screen. atleast she knows she owns a camera

We were disappointed in the camera and would probably not recommend it to others. There is a MAJOR delay when you try to take pictures and with that, many of the pictures are of the wall, ceiling, or floor because by the time the picture is taken, my son was off to take another. I would say the delay is a good 5 seconds or more. Rather ridiculous since it is supposed to be for small children. Wishing I didn't get up at 5AM the day after thanksgiving to go buy this and wishing I had purchased something else!

I had the same problem as all of the other consumers who could not get their pictures to download. It DOES WORK once you hold the USB cord in place and push it in as far as you can.
Other than that problem, the pictures are very poor quality and it takes WAY too long for the picture to actually take once my daughter pushes the button. She's a very smart 4 year old who knows how to work MY digital camera, and she's having a hard time getting this TOY to work. I wouldn't spend the $$ on it.

We bought this camera for our 3-year-old son for Christmas. He was excited to have his first camera and found it easy to use, but it did not hold up. Within 2 days of normal use the on/off button got jammed and now works periodically and the view screen now has lines running through it. We bought this so we didn't have to worry about our cameras being broken, but this definitely failed to meet our expectations given that it is suppose to be designed for toddlers. Also, we do not understand why there is such a long delay when using the flash. A toddler cannot hold the camera still long enough to take a decent picture with this delay (i.e. several seconds between the button being pressed and the photo being captured).

Nice looking durable camera. Pity the photo quality is awful! The worst photo quality I have ever seen! It should have the same quality as a cheap mobile phone at the minimum. Very disapointed!!

I bought the camera for my 2 1/2 year old grandson which takes pics with my regular digital camera. But we can't get it to download to the computer. The picture quality on the screen is blurry and he keeps telling me "broke, broke" because he can't see the pic he takes so once again he keeps sneaking my camera and I am afraid he is going to drop it and break mine. He already broke the screen on my old camera.

We were successful at downloading to a Mac. When we shut it off, we weren't able to turn it back on. Replacement batteries were the only solution, but when the camera shut itself off, we couldn't restart it, even after holding the on button for 2 or more seconds. :-(

We bought 2 cameras for Christmas - one for our 3 year old and one for our 5 year old. While we were not expecting amazing pictures we were hoping that we would be able to identify the subject!
The viewer is REALLY grainy and hard to make out and the picture quality isn't much better. I tried taking some shots to see if it was the cameras or my kids and a few times I had to wait 5 or more seconds after pushing the button for the camera to take the picture. No wonder all the kids get are blurry shots...

You MUST insert the USB cable completely to download to your computer. The cover design is bad - it closes on the cable and prevents complete connection. If you hold the cover all the way open (I used a knife - without the kids seeing) you can put the cable in completely and it works fine.

Photos haven't been great, but we're inside (on Xmas morning) and there's too much light for the flash, not enough to keep images from motion blur.

We haven't taken many, though. I just wanted to comment to save anybody else some Christmas morning frustration.

My daughter who is 2 1/2 was running around with our $250 camera and taking great pictures, so we thought for christmas we would give her a durable, kid-ready camera.

This camera confuses kids who already understand how to take pictures but are too young for a digital point and shoot. The camera beeps after you press the button, then 3 seconds later the flash goes off and another 1 sec for the picture to take. that is a LONG time for a child to have to wait, most of her pictures are of the ground instead of her target.

I will have to agree that if this camera hadn't been on clearance, I wouldn't have gotten it. I might even return it for a cheap point and shoot.

For those who have problems downloading from the camera to your computer:

I had the same problem, but I read another review stating that you need to make sure the USB is plugged in all the way on the camera end. Although the display will indicate that it is connected, you have to make sure it is pushed in all the way. Hope this helps someone.

My two children (4 and 6) received these from their Aunt for Christmas, and haven't stop taking pictures since. Although the picture quality isn't up to Dad's expectations, it doesn't matter to the kids and that is what is important. We have had no difficulty downloading as other reviewers have. It was as easy as plug'n' download. The kids have had a wonderful time taking pictures of everything, and the camera hold up to 1000 pics, so you don't have to download every 30 minutes. ENJOY!!!!

Recommendation: Invest in some rechargeable batteries.

I found the camera intuative and easy to use. I was able to upload the photos easily. I was expecting a poor quality photo. While it wasn't high quality the photos were certainly recognizable. I am certain for baby's first camera it will be more than acceptable. I can't wait to see what she does with it.

We got the camera today and my son was so excited that he was getting he own camera, until I saw the quaility of the pictures on the screen. He can handle it well and loves it, but me on the other hand can agree with the other post.

Here are what I came across:

I did have trouble with down loading the picture to my camera and figured out that the door was in the way and the quality is a little bit better on the computer. If this product was not on sale I would have not bought it. For the price they should do something about the qulity of the pictures.
It is a great for younger children, but not for the older ones. I would recommend the product if they would do a little bit of upgrades on the quailty.

I had trouble with the downloads until I realized I wasn't holding up the USB cover on the camera enough to allow the USB to make a full connection. The tiny door cover needs to stay above the connector and not slip down to connect right. When its connected you only see a tiny speck of the sliding cover. If you still see 1/2 of the cover after connection, its wrong. After several attemps I realized my mistake and it was perfect.
New Hardware popped up on the PC and downloaded just like a memory card.

This is a great camera. It's durable, easy to use and perfect for little hands! I would recommend this camera to everyone ... except for one small flaw: we are not able to download the pictures off the camera. We even had a replacement sent to us, with the exact same problem. It would be frustrating, except that our little guy is totally fine with just looking at the pictures on the screen on the back.

I bought this camera for my 3 year old son for Christmas last year, after finding him playing with my digital camera. It was a great gift and he loves taking pictures and showing us the pictures. The only thing is that after he is finished taking pictures and turns the camera off, you have to replace the batteries because it won't turn back on. This is very frustrating for him. We also have trouble downloading the pictures onto the computer for him to view them. We normally view the pictures on the camera screen.

My 4 1/2 yr son loves his camera. He takes it everywhere. It is very sturdy. He has dropped it and thrown it and it still works. It does take a few seconds to take the picture, but he has learned to listen for the beep when the picture is taken. If the camera is moved before the picture is taken it will be blurry. As far as quality of the pictures, I think it is more than adequate for what he needs. It isn't as good as an adult camera, but my son hasn't complained. Some of his pictures come out pretty good. When we download the pictures to the computer and look at them, they are a little grainy, but they are good enough. My son is thrilled when we download them and look at them. It holds over 700 photos, so you won't have to download too much. I end up deleting over half (after he looks at them) because of repetative pictures or bad pictures from operator error (like cutting off the subject's head or he moved when he took the picture) If my son is taking pictures constantly, he will go about 2 weeks between downloads. It does take a fair amount of batteries, if they use it a lot. It uses 4 AAA batteries. I would say we replace them about every 2-3 weeks with heavy use. I attached two pictures I took using his camera at the zoo.

I thought this would be a great toy for my son who loves taking pictures with my camera. I bought it for him and was very disappointed. The flash goes and then 5-10 seconds later the picture is taken. Then the quality of the pictures is so terrible that you can't even tell what the picture is. For [$] expect the resolution to be equal to that of a camera phone. It's not even close. What kind of resolution is on this if it's way worse than a camera phone which is typically 1.3 mega pixels. For the money you can get something with much better quality. The design of this camera is great and was so easy to use. It would be a great product if the picture quality was better.
