The sounds and words are distorted. It needs some volume control. Otherwise, the kids like to play with it.

Be careful how you put it away, if a button is pressed, the batteries run down. No off switch. I you let them play with it while you try to watch TV or a movie, you'll be listening to a lot of electronic noise.
It is a nice diversion. My grand daughter lives with us and has been playing with this since 5 months old. She thinks it's funny. Now 1 year and she still plays with it but spends more time putting lids on and off plastic containers and emptying drawers.
A calculator without a battery makes a pretty good remote too but she's figured out that that doesn't do anything and she wants something that works on the TV so she can see it work. Too smart for us.

My son loves playing with it and it keeps him away from our TV remote.

My grandson loved the remote, at his age ( 7 mons ) he likes the sounds and lights. The only thing is the sound could be a little higher

Bought this for my niece's 1st birthday and she loves it. She likes our TV removes so it's a nice replacement and it also will teach her a little French and Spanish.

Who is it for:
This is a toy I purchased for my 20 month old cousin, then 19 months. As I am multilingual, I purchased it to help reinforce learning in a fun way. It is preassembled, just add batteries. Once the panel is screwed back in, there are NO loose parts.
What is it used for:
I enjoy that the remote calls out the language selected and the numbers in three different languages: English, French, and Spanish. It helps to reinforce what I'm already teaching him. It still has a couple of buttons just for silly sounds-- just for fun. The channel wheel helps with gross motor skills as the child has to flick the wheel with a bit of strength to change from weather, music and sports (which are also multilingual).
It is a durable plastic and has nubs on the sides to aid in holding it. It withstands scuffing very well and the batteries last a long time. It is small enough to pass as a real remote control so that you can keep the real one out of little hands without feeling guilty
All in all, I'm very pleased with my purchase as I hadn't has the oppertunity to see it in a store before hand. Inexpensive and worth the purchase.
Con (To some who maybe looking for an all in 1 toy for numbers and alphabets)
It only does numbers, like a tv remote. You will need additional teachings toys for alphabets. I don't consider that a con as this particular item is MADE to look like a real television remote control.

Comments about Little Tikes DiscoverSounds® Universal Remote:
Love the product. Our daughter got it when she was about 7 months old. Now that she is older (14 months) she can press the buttons without assistance. Love the fact that the toy exposes her to three languages. HOWEVER, the animal sounds are not realistic. It sounds like a person making a sad attempt to sound like a pig, horse, ect.

Comments about Little Tikes DiscoverSounds® Universal Remote:
Our 8 month old is constantly trying to eat the remote for the TV, so we "pretend" to use this one and he loves to think he is "stealing" it and eating it. Lots of fun, and keeps the real remote nice and safe.
