The Role of Being a Mommy
As I mentioned in my previous blog post, I left Corporate America approximately 6 years ago to spend time as a SAHM (Stay At Home Mom). En lieu of preparing for sales and strategy meetings, I have been tasked with my self-imposed quest to become the quintessential mom. Whether you work or stay at home full-time, you will most probably agree that being a mommy is one of most difficult roles you’ve experienced.
To date, I have assumed the role of protector, teacher, doctor, mentor and friend. The only qualification that I have for any of these positions is the unconditional love that I have for each of my children. The only payment that I receive is in knowing that I have done my best to make them happy.
I have laughed and cried, wiped tears and kissed scraped knees, held hands and given high fives, given children’s toys to my kids and taken them away. Nothing in my life could have truly prepared me for the adventure of being a mommy. Over the past 6 years, I have learned that there is no such thing as the perfect mom. We all make mistakes. However, it’s through these mistakes that we inevitably learn to become better moms. Thankfully, our children are not only incredibly forgiving…but also our biggest fans.
