Little Tikes has recently redesigned the packaging for this item to include the color sheet music on the actual package. Once you cut it out it is sturdy and can be propped up in the space provided. I like that I can point to a note and my son can hit the matching key on the Xylophone. The string that connects the stick is a bit short but we took it off the string and it hasn't gotten lost yet since it has a place it clips into. So the string really isn't needed for us. Great toy and my son loves to play with it. I am sure we will get many years of music play from it!

Thanks for adding the 4 color coded music sheets on the main page.

However, we need more!! How do you expect the child to play/enjoy the toy without more music!

my sons like this toy, but they cant do anymore than bang a few times and then move on... I am now using these 4 sheets, but whats next? At this age they need more music to engage with the toy.. otherwise only for about five minutes use.

Comments about Little Tikes Tap-a-Tune® Xylophone:

I see in the other comments that I am not alone in my dismay with our Tap-a-Tune Xylophone. Little Tykes has some quality control issues, if they are letting toys intended as musical instruments out on the market without ensuring they play the right tones! My special-needs daughter received one for Christmas this year, and the orange bar is badly off-key. (Instead of an A, it is an A-flat.)

These xylophones are a great toy, and wonderful for allowing little ones to explore music -- but with only one octave, every chime really needs to be ON KEY. I know my low rating seems odd connected to my recommendation; while I would recommend the product, I would warn everyone to TAP EVERY KEY to verify the tone before purchasing it. (Don't buy one online!) I'm off to see if a retailer will exchange it for one that plays properly.

Comments about Little Tikes Tap-a-Tune® Xylophone:

My son loves to play this, but the top three notes are horribly out of tune. My husband and I like to play him songs, but can only use the bottom 5 notes if we want it to sound like a song.

This xylophone has been an amazing tool for my 2 y/o. She taps the colors, says the colors, hums while we play and just gets creative! I only wish you could print up more songs to play. Twinkle Twinkle Little Star reminds her too much of bedtime and she will tell us "No No!"

Comments about Little Tikes Tap-a-Tune® Xylophone:

It's ironic that it has songs on the packaging for you to play on the xylophone, because they are useless as it is so warped you can't make out Twinkle, Twinkle. The whole reason for buying this was lost on the utter sour notes.

Comments about Little Tikes Tap-a-Tune® Xylophone:

I really like it. I had one when I was a kid as well. I was so excited when my son received one for his first birthday.

However, I am a music teacher and it's hard for me to listen to my son play a scale on it when the fourth bar is sharp (the light green one). Also, the cord is too short. Please fix the tuning if your going to provide a musical toy. Otherwise, great!

Comments about Little Tikes Tap-a-Tune® Xylophone:

The string does not allow for child to hit the bars hard enough to make proper sound. I understand there thought is strangulation but a few more inches would not allow this happen!

There should be more music available.
