I bought this for my 2-yr-old granddaughter and it was the perfect height for her. She immediately began to draw and scribble. I bought a paper pad, washable markers and paints. She loved putting them in her tray. This was not hard to put together at all. I compared this with the Step 2 brand and am completely satisfied with my choice.

Overall the double easel would get an A+ except for the chalkboard. The easel itself is steady and durable with easy assembly. However, the surface of the "chalkboard" does not clean easily with the eraser provided. Dust collects on the board itself,in the tray underneath the board and of coarse on little hands. I know that there are other surfaces that are smoother and would work with chalk better.

I bought this same easel many years ago, for my 1st child (who's now 27 yrs old, and quite an artist. The easel's color then was an attractive blue). I'm 'Nana' now, to a 20 mth old boy, and I decided this was a 'must' for a Christmas gift. He absolutely loves chalk-scribbling on the chalkboard side, or coloring with crayon on the paper side. I only considered purchasing the Little Tikes easel, because of it's sturdy construction, stability, and aesthetic appeal. So very satisfied with it---again---and with getting to see another budding artist also enjoying it daily!

I purchased this for my 2yr old grandson. His mother works with him a lot. She requested the easel for him and wanted the cheap one from a competitor but this one looked so much better. I live in Texas and shipped it to him in St. Louis the shipping was so convenient.
